Even before we getting to see the Joker‘s psychotic lover in action in DC‘s Suicide Squad this August, Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn has been confirmed for her own solo film. Instead of focusing soley on Harley by herself, the film will highlight strong female characters within the DC cinematic universe, with names like Birds of Prey and Batgirl mentioned to be included. The origin story of Harley as a villain, which is touched on in SS, is that Harleen Quinzel was a young psychiatrist Arkham Asylum who was supposed to be treating the Joker, but ends up falling in love with him and leaves her career behind to become the Clown Prince of Crime’s sidekick. With SS being Harley’s first big screen outting, it’s interesting that Warner Brother is confident enough in how she’s portrayed to extend her past it. Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5th, 2016.
