High Morale is an indie electro duo originally consisting of Brandon Hoogenboom and Clay Cornelius.
The duo recently expanded their group to include singer/co-writer Kylie Koch.
Today, they just released a video for the new single “Face to Face”.
The music video creates a whole fantasy world. Pulling inspiration from all over the map, this falls somewhere in the intersection between Labyrinth and Dune. This is truly one of the most impressive visuals I’ve ever seen for a release.
What’s even more impressive is that singer Brandon Hoogenbloom animated the video himself, making this a true DIY affair.
The song itself is a warm wave of psychedelic electro goodness. The cyclical instrumental is accentuated by plucky guitar riffs and the hypnotizing vocal harmonies.
“When Brandon and I first listened to this track, it had an otherworldly dreamlike quality to it. The lyrics are inspired by crazy, vivid dreams where you’re in familiar yet unfamiliar settings, with someone you’re longing to reconnect with. Brandon had the super-catchy chorus
idea, ‘Do you have time for that?’ and it perfectly captured the vulnerability yet boldness of waking up and reaching out to that person for a second chance.” – Kylie Koch
