Kelsey Kindall is a singer/songwriter who’s based in San Francisco, CA.
She just released her first ever EP, Couldn’t Be Bothered on 11/20.
The title track was the first single she put out and to her surprise she hit over 1K plays in just a few days.
That may not seem like a big deal, but when you’re a brand new artist that milestone is often times hard to attain.
Before the beginning of 2020, Kindall spent a significant amount of time travelling the world volunteering as a missionary in over 20 countries.
During that period of time, she began writing what would eventually become this new EP. In her own words,
“Couldn’t Be Bothered is a tribute to the explorations of dating in your 20s while trying to find the greater purpose to life.“
You can tell Kelsey is talented at penning catchy pop songs. If I had to make comparisons, I’d say this EP is a mix of Hayley Williams’ Petals for Armor and one of my new favorite artists, Madison Olds.
There are darker more somber moments, but for the most part, this release is full of creative risks that pay off in a big way. For example, the vocoder used on “Change My Life”.
My personal favorite track is “Dramamine”. The pitched synths add a haunting dimension that makes for an interesting listen with headphones.
