Three piece post-grunge band medioc0re dropped a new controversial politically charged video earlier this month. Soon to follow would be the group’s debut EP, Scars Make Stars.
The video and the track “chemiKILL” surround singer/guitarist GIRLWOLF (Cindy Clark) commentary of a corrupt medical system in the United States. This narrative was inspired by her decade long struggle to treat an around the clock pain inducing bone tumor on her femur which she finally had surgery to remove in July of last year.
The visuals were shot/edited/directed/produced by CocoVera (Alejandra Robles Luna of Le Butcherettes and Janelle Obert of Stars at Night) who gravitate toward the unsettling and obscure. This provides the perfect birthing ground to medioc0re’s debut video in a deranged depiction of a surgical room where GIRLWOLF is both the doctor and the patient.
The video is seeping with the following themes: decay, corruption, greed, and poverty.
“chemiKILL” was tracked/mixed/mastered by Dave Swanson of Love Juice Labs. The guitar on this song was tracked by medioc0re’s bassist and cofounder Lukas West. The bass was tracked by GIRLWOLF, although on the rest of the EP the two play inverse instruments. All drums on the album were tracked by Joey D’Alfonso. All lyrics and vocals by GIRLWOLF.
