Bob Fossil is an alternative rock band from Washington. They released their debut self-titled album in 2015 and have been consistent ever since; putting out two more full lengths in the following two years and an EP in 2020.
They aren’t wasting any time in 2022, dropping a brand new single titled “Dissipate” before January is even over.
Upon first listen, the vocals, melody and guitar style reminded me a lot of Modest Mouse. It still does, but upon subsequent revisits, I noticed some instrumental similarities to Minus the Bear. There’s a very math rock-esque style to it all.
The band is clearly not one dimensional, incorporating influences from all corners of music; jazz, soul, funk…the list goes on.
The song is engaging from beginning to end, the harmonies are on point and not over exaggerated. There’s even a surprising hip-hop adjacent breakdown. If this track doesn’t make it to every college radio station in the country, I’ll be surprised.
