_spaces just dropped their debut single “sad reacts only”. They take a more industrial approach to hyperpop with lush layered synths and heavy basslines.
Alex did a great job with this production, treading the line between pop and electronica. That’s one of the things that immediately sets them apart from the rest of the genre. Think Crystal Castles but way less depressing. Or The Postal Service on amphetamines.
I really like the 8-bit feel to the entire song. I would describe my overall impression as “melody driven beautiful chaos”.
The track has plenty of peaks and crescendos and is a quick listen at only 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Fans of 100 gecs will feel right at home.
