Sam MacAdam is a harpist, violinist, and singer/songwriter. She recalls a children’s music group (Taffle Music) as the place where her love of music was born. She began taking violin lessons at age 7 and her talent quickly flourished.
After high school, she studied at and received a first class honours degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
As well as making her own music, MacAdam gets involved in collaborative projects with non-profits like UK Harp Association and Glasgow Connected Arts Network.
MacAdam’s new single “Longsands” is her second official release. The song was conceived after a bad break up and the pain shines through in a beautiful way.
The title of the track refers to a beach in England, which was the setting for the situation the song is based around.
The vocals are equal parts soothing and haunting. The violin plucks in the background eventually morph into what sounds like an entire orchestra. The instrumental paints a picture of getting lost in a fantasy world; perhaps even in your own mind.
The track was Mixed and Mastered by Edwin McLachlan.
Personally, I would love to hear MacAdam get into licensing music to films. The aesthetic and delivery would fit well in so many different instances.
