Little Trips is a dream pop band from Denver, Colorado. The duo consists of Greg Laut and Jason Paton
They just released their sophomore single, “Midmorning Train to Amsterdam” which comes off their upcoming LP, Downhill to Paradise. I can’t say too much about the album as a whole other than you NEED to hear this when it drops.
The song itself is a silky smooth dreampop anthem with some definite indie rock undertones. To me, it sounds kind of like if Modest Mouse and The Flaming Lips had an illegitimate love child.
The video’s concept centers around the band’s experiences with their mascot, Larry Fury. The lyrics were written about fictional backstories that Greg invented for passengers on a train to Europe.
The visual component of this project just proves that you can make beautiful art on a budget. There’s nothing expensive or flashy about it because there doesn’t need to be. The unique editing style and vintage VHS aesthetic definitely take this video to the next level.
