Wyse is a hip-hop/R&B artist from Portland, Oregon. He began to get interested in music when hearing the Jackson 5 around age nine.
He’s become heavily influenced by acts like PARTYNEXTDOOR, Usher and Chris Brown while adding elements of dancehall and reggae into his music.
He recalls the first moment he felt like he broke through a barrier, being played on the radio by DJ OG One. “That was a big confidence booster. It propelled me to go on and make even more great music.” he remarked.
He just started releasing music last year. While having a producer behind the desk, Wyse writes and sings all his own material.
The first track I heard was “Crown Royal” and what struck me immediately was that blend of dancehall and R&B I mentioned earlier. The production is clean and vocal effects and synths are used more as an accent than the main focus.
Wyse’s vocals are endlessly smooth and his flow leaves professional rapper’s questioning themselves. The super high quality video was directed by Cole Devore and Aaron Young and is the perfect enhancement to this project.
