Jamie Rees is a 22 year-old pop artist from Edinburgh, Scotland.
His new track “hate me!” is a fully DIY project, having been produced and recorded in his University dorm room.
The single was inspired by some negative online feedback. In that moment, he decided to make a “delusionally self confident” anthem.
The track even includes a vocal choir piece at the end full of different takes of Rees’ own vocals.
Rees is the conductor on a ship headed straight to whatever planet he intends to leave his haters on.
The instrumental is huge and packed with attitude. It reminds me of a modern take on late 90’s pop.
The main portion of the track is only about two minutes long, leaving you ready to replay immediately.
The choir section that I mentioned before is truly the crown jewel of “hate me!”. It’s unexpected but certainly not out of place. A really impressive and creative way to close this song out.
To me, this was the perfect way to channel negative energy that radiates from the internet.
