Slim da Wit is a hip-hop artist from New Jersey. I hesitate to call him a “rapper” because his music and delivery is more complex than that.
When he’s not recording music, Slim works as a 10th grade English teacher. He instills in his students the same message he conveys with his music: “positivity is key”.
His influences have been varied from a young age, growing up in a less than favorable neighborhood while also being exposed to gospel and religion by his family.
That juxtaposition inspired Slim’s unique brand of R&B/Hip-Hop.
It speaks to his dynamic character that he has managed to garner an audience of 40K+ on TikTok before ever releasing any music.
His debut single “Lets Have Fun” arrives just in time for summer. The instrumental has a bright beachy vibe, fit for a Yung Pinch track.
The flow is so relentless that it takes a second to notice that the subject matter is vastly different than what we’re used to hearing.
Lines like “Exhale the negative. Care for your heart and your body, they’re delicate” stands as an example of how a positive song can still go hard.
“Lets Have Fun” has a ton of replay value, clocking in at less than 2 minutes.
Slim da Wit is here to remind us to let go of our inhibitions and remember that life is short.
