RYAL is an alternative electronic duo from New York. The group consists of Jacque Ryal (vocals/keyboard) and Aaron Nevezie (producer).
They cite a few of their influences as Bonobo, Thom Yorke and Tame Impala.
To celebrate the release of their previous single, “Tame”, the band partnered with Burlap & Barrel to support the Emma’s Torch non-profit.
Emma’s Torch focuses on training refugees, asylees, and survivor’s of human trafficking in the culinary arts and helping them to learn the skills to build a successful career. All donations that were received in June were matched up to $25,000.
Their new single “Feathers” has been in the works since 2018, and is finally finished and ready to present to the world.
The first thing I noticed about the song was the reverb heavy synths. I instantly had flashbacks of listening to The Postal Service and Now Its Overhead on repeat.
Ryal’s performance is incredible, giving us evocative vocals that seem to take on an otherworldly quality throughout the song.
“At a certain point I realized freedom was the most important thing to me and my life. That is what I care about most-having the freedom to love, to do, to be, freedom to define my schedule, who I surround myself with. I hope this song gives someone the courage to find their freedom.” – Jacque Ryal (vocals/keyboard)
