Wind Meets West is a Vietnamese American indie pop singer-songwriter/producer based in Brooklyn, NY.
His new single “STAY FRIENDS” features Korean American singer/songwriter Saenabi.
Both artists are also part of the band SET+VOI with producer Vytza.
“STAY FRIENDS” deals with the concept of “friend break ups”. The song was written during quarantine when both artists recall they felt the most alone.
Sometimes separating ourselves from friends is just as tough as severing a romantic relationship. Often times, it’s even more taxing and confusing.
The melody is very pop music oriented. It reminds me of a much more well-executed and much more interesting version of The Chainsmokers.
The song has a somber yet hopeful tone, which is appropriate considering the subject matter. Sometimes, cutting people out of our lives is hard. But if we know it’s something that’s necessary for our mental health, we can remain optimistic about the future and how we will continue to grow.
