Jora the Fortuneteller are a 4-piece alternative rock band from Norwich, UK. The band consists of Sam Howlett (Vocals & Guitar), Gui Leadbitter (Lead Guitar), Dawid Tondryk (Bass), and Josh Shave (Drums).
They have only been releasing music for 2 years, and have quickly established a name for themselves.
The band cites a few of their influences as Muse and Pink Floyd.
In October of 2021 the band will embark on a massive tour of the UK supporting Millie Manders & the Shut Up.
They just released their sophomore single “WAR”. The track starts out super heavy, the kind of heavy that starts a mosh pit at a live show immediately.
That heaviness is balanced out by the shimmery smooth vocals and pulsing guitar riffs. The spirit of Matt Bellamy is undeniably present; but the more I listened the more I picked up on some possible Incubus and Queens of the Stone Age influence as well.
Jora and the Fortuneteller have a gigantic sound that would be right at home at any outdoor music festival. It’s theatric without being over the top. It’s exciting without causing anxiety. I’m interested to hear what else they have up their sleeve this year.
