Lucy Dreams is a dreampop trio from Vienna.
The group consists of David Reiterer, Philipp Prückl and an AI named Lucy. This independent system of digital and analogue effects was born from David and Philipp’s time in the studio, experimenting with recording software.
They site a few of their influences as David Bowie and Empire of the Sun.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a band containing an AI member and I’m sure it won’t be the last as the industry as a whole inevitably moves in that direction.
Their new music video for their single “Dreamland” is an impressive animated masterpiece.
“Dreamland” is the first single off their upcoming album, Götterfunken.
The song is extremely relaxing. There’s no denying some type of 80’s New Wave inspiration. The more I listened I really started to hear a heavy Flaming Lips influence as well.
The video takes the song to a whole different level, truly making it immersive and complete. It depicts the journey through dreamland in a way that makes me wish I had a VR headset.
The visual art was done by VISUALDON in cooperation with buero butter.
“Dreamland” is both the analogue and the digital subconscious put into sounds, a gentle-minded breakout from mental patterns and their subsequent realities.” – David Reiterer
