Fall or Flight are an anonymous electronic group based in Orlando.
They specialize in boutique audio and visuals that will accompany you on your inevitable journey to space.
After releasing some singles and an EP in 2020, they started out 2021 strong with a remix EP of Madison Olds’ hit song “Best Part of Me”.
How did Best Part of Me (tHE rEMIXES) come about? F/F said themselves, it started because they were huge fans of Madison Olds.
A reply to a mutual’s Twitter thread would be the catalyst to a series of DM’s that ultimately resulted in this project coming to fruition.
You would think that a release that consists of 4 remixes of the same song would get repetitive. That is absolutely not the case. F/F did a great job of bringing different styles to each version of the song.
The EP begins with the (cELESTIAL vARIANT) and a spoken word piece by Madison, “It’s okay to not be okay” is a sentiment we should all embrace.
Starting the release out with a piano ballad was a bold move that I feel paid off. This rendition of the song is sure to stir up emotion.
To me, this song is the most powerful on the record.
(eSCAPE vELOCITY vARIANT) has a future bass feel to it, incorporating pitched up vocals. There’s an unexpected acoustic guitar breakdown at the end of the shortest remix in the bunch.
(dARK mATTER vARIANT) reminds me of Incubus in a weird way. There are multiple qualities like the guitar tone and some of the sampled sounds that bring me all the way back to the late 90’s.
(gALAXYWAVE vARIANT) brings this release full circle with a booming 80’s vibe. The synths steer through the background on the way back to Fall or Flight’s home planet.
