You got to know a good friend of mine, The Glow of Streetlights, earlier this year.
He’s one of those people who will stop at nothing to support other artists. In my hometown, he was the only person throwing more local shows than I was.
His peaceful demeanor and huge heart are just a few reasons I truly love TGOSL.
His taste in music is eclectic and that definitely transfers to the music he creates.
In order to pinpoint some of TGOSL direct influences, he took the time to countdown his 10 favorite albums.
Merzbow – Pulse Demon
“My favorite album of all time. The true soundtrack for the apocalypse. Casual listeners should not check this out. This is sound art. It is vile, aggressive and everything I want out of a piece of sonic artwork.”
Young Thug – Barter 6
“Quite possibly my favorite hip-hop album of all time. Great beats and an amazing vibe that really carried the era it was released in. Influential.”
Godspeed You! Black Emperor – Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven
“An orchestra for long drives on lonely highways. The best band I’ve ever seen live.”
Earth – The Bee’s Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull
“The soundtrack to a gloomy sunrise on a Miami morning.”
Circa Survive – Juturna
“I got this album so many years ago. It was one of the first “good” albums I had ever heard. So much passion, drive and emotion.”
Gigantic Brain – Self-Titled
“This is a crushing album of cyber-grindcore. It is brutal, disgusting, sci-fi and extreme.”
Drab Majesty – The Demonstration
“A masterpiece of modern retro goth. Excellent band to see live also.”
Dej Loaf – $ell Sole.
“This album screams “vibe!” and carries an energy that I’ve never seen replicated.”
Leftover Crack – Fuck World Trade
“My favorite punk album of all time. It is the way I want to hear the genre. Very political. I love this album.”
City Girl – Chroma Velocity
“A chill and relaxing voyage through a sad and desolate cityscape. The sounds used in this album provoke nostalgia and god vibes. If not a little sad. a beautiful piece of art.”
