Mulini is an alternative pop artist from the UK.
His influences include Yung Lean, David Bowie and Tyler, the Creator.
He became inspired to learn production and make his own music when his former band broke up in 2018.
He created music in his home studio for two years, gaining recognition from outlets such as BBC Coventry and Radio Plus.
Mulini believes in the importance of the visual component that accompanies his sounds. He began to partner with people like film director Sam Ebdon (FilmFront Productions) to bring his visions to life.
In 2020 he signed with U.S. based label, Brenner Productions Group.
His 2020 releases helped him hit huge milestones such as 20,000+ streams in less than a month on his single, “Bliss”.
“Dread” is the final single from his upcoming EP, Just Beyond, which is set to release on April 30th.
I was immediately captured by the synthwave-y intro. Mulini’s vocals are insanely smooth over the lush synths and sparse percussion.
There’s no doubt that there’s some New Wave influence beneath the surface of his arsenal.
The song was created shortly after the unfortunate passing of one of Mulini’s family members.
That loss does translate through the tone of the song, without being blatantly sad. It’s more a feeling of hope and optimism, which I think all of us could use more of these days.
