Cloud Vincent is an indie artist who fuses genres to create a unique listening experience with each song.
He grew up taking piano lessons and singing in choir, neither of which he particularly cared for.
In his childhood he was surrounded by rock music and quickly began to broaden his horizons and draw influence from all types of music.
After a move to Paris he began to find his own sound while attending university.
Since the release of his first single “Daisy” in 2019, he has taken his time to craft songs that he truly believes in.
His new track “Hairs Too Short” could easily be mistaken for The Strokes.
At the same time there’s a hip-hop element similar to Gym Class Heroes (minus McCoy’s inherent corniness).
His sound has changed quite a bit since “Daisy” which leaned more toward R&B.
Even when compared to the more recent “Beach House”, “Hairs Too Short” definitely leans more toward the indie rock side genre wise.
Cloud Vincent isn’t afraid to just make what he likes. I think that’s a solid strategy because the genuine nature shines through on tracks like this.
It’s clear that he’s getting more comfortable singing rather than rapping and I look forward to hearing what’s next.
