Cat Calabrese is a singer/songwriter from Celeveland, Ohio.
She used to be the singer in a band called Rule of Young who released multiple successful singles throughout 2019 and 2020.
Now, Calabrese is branching out with a solo career for the first time.
She just released her debut single “Quicksand” which was produced by Wavey Duder (co- producer of Machine Gun Kelly’s Tickets to my Downfall).
This is a straight-forward pop song about a toxic ex, which I know we all relate to.
The intro and the beat overall feels almost tropical. Cat’s passionate vocals create a nice counter balance with how bright the instrumental is.
“Quicksand” is a bouncy pop song that would make late 90’s/early 2000’s pop stars tremble.
It reminds me of something I would hear on TRL back in the day. (Yes, I know. Constantly aging myself). I can picture the music video playing over screaming people in Times Square.
Plain and simple, this is a quintessential pop song.
With at least 5 more finished songs waiting on the shelf, it’s safe to say this won’t be the last you hear of Cat Calabrese this year.
