Rachel Curtis is an independent folk singer/songwriter from Michigan.
She released her debut EP, Senses in May 2018 and stayed busy since then steadily releasing singles.
She just released her new single and music video, “Strobe Lights” today.
The track is dreamy and atmospheric from the very beginning.
Curtis’ vocals have a slight country twang, similar to Eisley. You can definitely hear influence of Florence and the Machine as well.
The music video is very fitting, with Curtis singing her way through an enchanted forest. The visual is made complete with a light up dress.
“Strobe Lights” was co-written and produced by band bassist Tyler Tesla, Mixed by Curt Micol and Mastered by the talented, Grammy-nominated Mastering Engineer Steve Fallone (Kacey Musgraves, The National, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver).
“Tyler came to me with an intriguing main guitar riff and listening to it made me think of a long, relaxing car trip — looking out and seeing the afternoon sun shine through the trees lining the road, resembling a strobe light as you move past. Writing the song provoked a pleasant memory, filling me with a calm, peaceful feeling from past adventures.” – Rachel Curtis
