MAUMAUMAU is a Mexican alt-pop/rock artist based in Los Angeles. He is also the lead vocalist of indie project, Night Lights.
In his own words, his main goal is to be the voice for the unrepresented.
Musically, he is influenced by genre bending artists like Gorillaz and Beck.
His new track, titled “B!L!NGVAL”, explores the idea of finding common ground with those who have different political views.
The mixture of alt rock and electronic elements reminds me of Robert Delong.
The way this song was recorded has a feeling of a live show to it. It sounds like a super well tracked concert that we get to be a part of in our living rooms.
The message here is clear and is sparking a very necessary conversation. We have to stop fighting against each other and band together and deal with the very real problems we all face every single day.
“I’m curious and passionate about understanding people, differences in opinion, and navigating con7lict with someone to reach some mutual understanding. “B!L!NGVAL” is a song I wrote in frustration about the complexities of talking to a Trump supporter and trying to find a common area to communicate through. It’s a song that outlines a difference in language, and English is not the problem. It’s about the information we are fed and how to decompose such different agendas. It’s a song with intention and with drive and I hope it cuts through to you like it did to me when I was writing it.” -MAUMAUMAU
