Old Fame just released their single, “Act II” which gets it’s title because it is the second part of an upcoming EP titled Nowhere to Be.
The original intention of the band was to release the EP in 2020, but obvious world events left them unable to utilize studio time safely. The release actually started out including different songs, but once the band found themselves with more time on their hands, new tunes were born.
They spent many weeks sharing files back and forth until Covid restrictions were temporarily lifted. This gave them just enough time to safely rehearse and head into Wicked Squid Studios to record with Ian Fait & Josh Pettinger.
The first time I heard this song I was struck by how much it reminded me of a beautiful mixture of Minus the Bear and Kurt Travis.
The mantra repeated throughout the song, “It’s all in your head, kid”, definitely makes you think and evaluate your own psyche.
“Act II” fits somewhere between indie rock and post hardcore.
In my opinion, this track shows Old Fame making leaps and bounds even just from their first single.
This song sounds strangely familiar. Something about it feels very comfortable and makes you want to listen deeper.
Intro/Outro spoken word by Alan Watts.
