Jessamynn is a singer/songwriter that rides the line of Country and Pop. She was born in Dallas, grew up in New England, and ended up moving back to Texas for about 10 years. She just made the move to Los Angeles in early 2020 before the pandemic shut things down. A decidedly stressful time to be moving across the country, Jessamynn channeled those feelings into what would end up being her first released song, “Gold”.
Don’t get it twisted, the Jessamynn project may be new, but the woman behind it is far from inexperienced in the music industry.
She has received a Bachelor Degree in Music from North Texas University, spent a decade performing in country and dance bands, songwriting for Pop and EDM acts, and has done commercial session singing for alt-country radio stations all over the U.S.
Her debut single “Gold” was written during lockdown in a bungalow in LA with only a guitar.
This song explores a deep reflection and expression of gratitude for her blessings at such a tumultuous time in our country.
With production, mixing, mastering, guitars, and bass by Andrew McMillan, and drums by Matt Young, “Gold” explores travels, trials, failures, and simple joys.
The intro and overall tone of the beginning of the song reminds me of Bon Iver. A modern take on folk and country that transports you to an isolated cabin with a view.
This particular blend of pop and country is definitely from the same family tree as Jenny Lewis.
For all those people who say “I like all genres except country”, reserve your judgement until you give Jessamynn a chance.
