I’m Alone, I’m Stuck in My Mind, There’s a Paper Bag and I Wanna Find It is not the name of a lost Fall Out Boy song.
It is a 6 track EP by Arg0ta that incapsulates his unresolved issues from struggles that come from a tumultuous upbringing. This collection of songs highlights his internal conflict and self-doubt and subsequent growth and peace.
Throughout the EP Arg0ta uses his music to communicate with his younger self; trying to understand who he is and what’s truly important in this insane world.
Citing influences like Frank Ocean, Buddy Ross, Rex Orange County, and Bill Withers, he brings an interesting mix of R&B and acid rock.
These are songs I would expect to hear on a festival stage. The bluesy vocals bring to mind bands like Kings of Leon.
This is one of those rare times when the listener gets to witness an artist going through a sort of cathartic evolution with every track.
This EP is super well crafted and it all feels extremely cohesive. The release isn’t very long, clocking in at little more than 12 minutes. That seems to be a smart move because as I was listening I began to notice the EP had restarted without me even realizing it.
There’s a fair amount of experimentation production wise and that leads to some big wins, in my opinion, for Arg0ta. The last track even has a Zelda sample, which didn’t go unnoticed.
