Karma Versa is a 5 piece post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York. The band has been around for almost a decade, but not the way you might expect.
Back in 2011, they released a six-track EP of artful progressive and post-hardcore music titled When Words Fail. They toured a bit for that release and then took a 5 year hiatus.
Karma Versa reformed in 2017 and quickly created their next EP, titled Merriam.
Their newest video, “Hempstead” is a taste of what is to come. The band will be releasing their third album, Salvaje, on New Years Day 2021.
This new single leans to the heavier side of the post-hardcore scale. Fans of Glassjaw and Dillinger Escape Plan will feel right at home. The lyrics are equally heavy and deal with themes of domestic abuse.
There’s a level of chaos on “Hempstead” that really beautifully encapsulates the last year.
The video includes not only a live performance but also really amazing editing by Washed Up Media that includes some really solid Kaleidoscope effects.
Overall I’m very curious to see what this next full length brings, and we’ll find out on January 1st, 2021.
