We got to know experimental Brisbane producer Joel Green (Subtle Static) back in September when he released his debut LP, Enjoy.
Enjoy it we did, and before I knew it Subtle Static was releasing another single titled, “Motions”.
The glittery synths that pulse through the intro sound a little like birds chirping…maybe alien birds.
Green’s soul inspired vocals are secondary to the driving instrumental, but none the less impressive.
This single shows a great deal of growth and feels like the most polished “pop song” in the SS catalog.
His unique brand of glitchy future bass is equal parts dance and R&B inspired. There’s no doubt of his ability to make the listener feel something, even without words.
