Long Island Post Hardcore outfit Ü Blue has been pretty consistent in the niche since 2016 when they first came on my radar.
If you’re a fan of Dance Gavin Dance, Hail the Sun, etc, definitely check this band out.
That being said, their newest single employs a feature from one of the scenes most beloved ex-DGD singers, Kurt Travis.
Kurt has been especially quiet since the release of the last Royal Coda album and his most recent solo record. He adds a level of silky smoothness that was a great addition to this song without overpowering the band.
“Shreddy Vs Margaret” starts out super heavy and bounces into a melodic chorus.
It’s even complete with a spoken word breakdown which makes the Kurt feature seem that much more well placed.
There are moments of this track that feel so completely unhinged that it makes me want to get up, headbang, and break things.
These guys are really good at balancing frustrated, loud, heavy moments with melody that soothes and makes you tap your foot.
If you’re into Post-Hardcore and/or Swancore and are tired of the same 10 bands, give Ü Blue a try!
