Austin based singer songwriter Shayna Sands just released a brand new single titled “Secret Pain”.
Sands grew up in Texas and started a band in her teenage years. They played shows and got local recognition.
She moved to New York at age 20 and immersed herself in the blues scene by watching the seasoned pros perform.
That motivated her to go back to Texas and study classical guitar and composition.
The only thing I could think when I heard “Secret Pain” for the first time was Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley. If you’re a fan of anything from the early 2000’s Saddle Creek Records catalog, you definitely need to check out Shayna Sands.
This is a really unique mix of blues, folk, and pop music that conveys emotion while remaining interesting throughout.
FFO: Bob Dylan, Shakey Graves and Leonard Cohen.
