Costa Mesa band Takers Leavers just released a music video for their new single, “Quiet/Chaos”.
The intro blasts you in your face. It’s abrupt yet intriguing, in the vein of Everytime I Die. Unlike a lot of acts I hear, even the harsh vocals are still intelligible.
Melodic vocals kick in for the chorus and remind me of Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars) the way they crescendo.
These guys are part of the next wave of post hardcore. Instituting more creative pauses and uses of things like bass riffs.
This single (and all the band’s music from what I can tell) have introspective lyrics which lends to a sense of connection and empathy.
This song in particular has a very unique video. I’m glad to see something that isn’t just the band playing their instruments.
Both the lyrics and the visual leave the message open to interpretation in my opinion. They have something to say but they aren’t forcing an agenda down anyone’s throat.
I’m excited to see what else Takers Leavers has in store for 2020. In the meantime, check our their new video “Quiet/Chaos”:
