Orlando based producer/DJ Quarterjack is back with two brand new tracks. Released on Friday the 13th the two song single features his alias known as Goth Gold.
Witchhouse influenced synths blend with alternative R&B/trap type drums and “guitalele” (guitar+ukulele) on my personal favorite Quarterjack track, “HEX”.
The lofi “megaphone” treatment to the vocals conjures comparisons to Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie.
Quarterjack seems to be leaning more toward the mainstream with this new project. The term Bedroom pop definitely applies here.
We’re hearing occult themes weaved into emo love songs. I can’t help but hear traces of acts like Billie Eilish and Purity Ring.
The vocals are accessible yet haunting with close to mic whispers which seem to be a callsign of GOTH GOLD.
We’re getting a unique perspective on this release. These songs are two blended personalities within the same person. Layering both aliases into one project with clear connection prior material. Quarterjack has outdone himself and leaves us wondering what else is next in 2020.
