Angry Blackmen is a Chicago rap duo comprised of Quentin Branch and Brian Warren who met on location of a music video a shoot back in 2014.
The idea to form what is now Angry Blackmen initially came from Brian in December of 2016. Quentin would later design the now iconic logo that same year.
From 2017-2018 Angry Blackmen released a slew of singles gaining a cult like following and being featured on popular blogs like Lyrical Lemonade, Earmilk, and Elevator.
In 2019 Angry Blackmen released their debut EP Talkshit! to underground critical acclaim.
For me, upon first listen the single, “RIOT!” reminded me a lot of an even more alternative Odd Future. Blending the feel of hip hop with the intensity of post hardcore, Angry Blackmen also incite the same sort of reaction in me that Injury Reserve does.
It makes you want to fuck shit up, but for the greater good.
The video is absolutely genius, with a play off of the movie Office Space at the beginning smashing a printer in a field. It only gets better from there. Burning flags, lightsaber fights in Wal-Mart, what more do you want??
This is one of those things I get sent and end up playing on repeat for an entire day.
How do you sound hard while rapping on top of a pile of Bounty paper towels?
Find out in the music video for their single, “RIOT!”:
