Not all hip-hop has to be submerged in the subject matter of drugs, violence, or objectifying women. On that same note, the artists who choose not to reflect on those subjects are not inherently boring.
Enter Brendan Bennett. This is a name I had heard around my hometown for probably the last year. I get music submissions all the time so I just never really looked into who this person was.
I knew he had produced songs for artists in and around where I’m from. Mainly Nate Traveller and Eddy Rock. What I didn’t know was that Brendan was gearing up to release his own music that would catch my attention.
Before I even got a chance to listen to much of his material I saw him perform at a Throwed Thursday event at Old Soul Brewery.
I was in awe that not only were the songs great but this guy knew how to perform. It made me wonder how long he had been doing this. Does he know he’s this good?
What I came to find out is that Brendan is one of the nicest and most humble people I’ve met to date. His impressive optimism and positivity are a breath of fresh air in a time when those things are harder to find every day.
Stay tuned for a full interview with Brendan Bennett coming soon!
