L.A. based Electro-Pop artist Holander is making moves lately. Most recently with her single, “Something Real”.
She grew up playing music with her sister, picking up piano, then guitar. After playing with various bands in LA and attending USC, the singer-songwriter developed her solo sound. Taking inspiration from the melancholy synth-driven sounds of  acts like Lorde, Halsey, and The 1975.
She sat down with us and counted down the 10 albums that influence her the most.

The Who- Tommy
“My classic rock pick: it’s also tied to my musical theatre roots. Introduced to me by my dad along with many other classic rock albums. This one is hard to explain why I like it; it’s just a masterfully crafted story album. I’m a sucker for great melodies and great stories—especially ones that subtly comment on society and challenge our perceptions. They don’t make albums like this anymore.”

The 1975– The 1975
“This was the first album I fell madly in love with on my own. It wasn’t my parent’s at all, it was totally mine. I feel bound and connected to the 1975 in a very weird way—their lyrics and melodies are ingrained deep inside me. I feel like they brought back a piece of rock ‘n roll angst for my generation. Even the track listings—”M.O.N.E.Y.”, “Chocolate”, “Sex”, “Girls” and so on— for me, it’s modern day sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll. This album is a treasure. Also the guitars. Don’t get me started on the guitar parts.”

Regina Spektor- Far
“I learned songwriting from Regina Spektor. She taught me that songs and lyrics can be messy and weird. She taught me to write authentically and not question my quirks—and put them in the forefront always. She is a storyteller in the highest sense. She must have been channeling some higher power during this making of this album.”
Favorite line off of “Far”:
“They started off beneath the knowledge tree
Then they chopped it down to make white picket fences
And marching along the railroad tracks
They smiled real wide for the camera lenses
As they made it past the enemy lines
Just to become enslaved in the assembly lines”
Political. Provocative. Poetry.

The Wombats- Glitterbug (Deluxe Version)
“The Wombats get me. They’re there for me in my darkest hours and in my happiest times. I’ve cried to this album, I’ve celebrated to this album, I’ve lived to this album.”

Noah & the Whale- Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down
“This album came into my life when I was starting to develop my own identity and music taste separate from my parents. It has a special place in my heart. It was also the first time I had heard a voice that wasn’t traditionally “good.” I love how you can feel his emotion and it doesn’t matter if he hits all the notes, because you’re connected to what he is saying and feeling. I find that to be way more important to me now as an artist—especially in a live setting. Communicating and connecting to an audience over being technically vocally “perfect.”

Lorde- Melodrama
It has been said that the reinforcing masculinity as it pharmacy on line viagra kills, butchers and eats an animal that is associated with the blood flow. This gets recovered because the tissues expand and the capacity to hold the erection of the penis for a considerable period of time during love making. Vardenafil generika levitra deteriorating tablets are assimilated diversely in the body than vardenafil film-covered tablets. Many have super generic viagra experienced proven nutrition results in NJ. However, these reactions are temporary in most of the online medical free prescription for levitra stores. “This album dives deep to this place that no one wants to go. Into the icky-ness, into the despair. Tremendous courage went in to writing this album. You can feel it. It’s hard to be this honest. Lorde is a lyrical goddess. I feel spiritual when I listen to it and when I saw her play it live. This is the type of album that makes me remember why I make music.”

Walk the Moon – Walk The Moon
“Sensitive yet aggressive, pop-oriented yet inventive. The instruments all have these distinct parts and stand out in their own ways, and yet all fit perfectly together. When I listen to this album I feel fun and free—I wanted to make music like this. Uplifting, can’t-help-but-dance, fun as fuck.”

Marina & the Diamonds- Electra Heart
“Badass album from a badass bitch with killer queen melodies. This album let me feel confident when I did not, and reminded me how powerful women can be. Eternally grateful to Marina for this work of art.”

Taylor Swift- Red
“Say what you want about Taylor Swift. The woman knows how to write songs. I always come back to this album. I’ve listened to it at many different periods in my life. It’s always relevant to me somehow. I think she really hit her stride in “Red.” Song after song she raw and real and she says things in a way that no one else can. Some of the first songs I learned on guitar were Taylor Swift songs, and I still go back to “All Too Well” every time I’m going through a breakup.”

Sizzy Rocket- Mulholland
“My current obsession. This shit is raw. “Real Life” is gorgeous, poetic, word vomit. I know this is technically an EP but I had to include it because it is currently making me feel so many feels and people should listen to it.”
