Melbourne’s Mount Defiance Join Whisk & Key Records

Mount Defiance have been making waves in Melbourne over the last few years, releasing their debut EP Learning Derby in 2016 and its follow-up Yankee Flat in 2017.
They pride themselves on the ability to “spin yarns to make listeners both happy and sad”; singer Ed Tripodi delivers complex and memorable lyrics over the band’s Indie-Punk backing.

To celebrate, Mount Defiance released their first single on Whisk & Key Records, “Hospital Gown”.

Recorded at Homestead Studios in Mount Helen, Victoria (described by the band as “paradise”), the band say:

“The song is about getting optimistically carried away inside your own head. Hoping for the best and expecting the best to pay you back in turn. It’s also about being worried that your oblivious optimism somehow hospitalized someone you care about.”
