Darro Chea – Aspiring Musician, Asian American and Educated Man

Darro Chea is an aspiring Asian American do it yourself musician coming from York, Pennsylvania. He started his musical journey at the infamous Berklee college in Boston. While his music originates from genres such as alternative rock, he has musical influences that range from Steve Vai and Dream Theater to Dance Gavin Dance and Fall Out Boy. He finished his dual bachelor degree in musical engineering, production and guitar performance. He also attended his graduate program at Berklee Valencia.

While being in the band Islands Apart he worked with musicians such as Al Joseph, Gary Willis and Big Freedia. He also has shared the stage with Daniel Yoong and John McGloughin. After he parted ways with the band he recorded and self produced his first EP Nostalgia. Chea is also currently working as a recording program instructor at I Will Graduate Youth Development Program and is also an intern at Little Kids Rock. While a lot of DIY artists are self taught, it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of music an educated man like Chea will be bringing to us. When he’s not busy with work or his internship he is working on writing some new songs as well as playing some shows around New York City. He’s also planning an East coast tour for the early summer.
