The season of lists is upon us! To jump start the first of many lists to come, here is a top 5 list of some of my favorite albums and EPs that I have discovered this year. Enjoy!
1 / The Hirsch Effekt – Holon : Agnosie
Overall, this is probably one of my favorite finds altogether (Thanks Trent!). This three piece from Hannover, Germany plays a hectic blend of Experimental Metal and Mathcore. This album has a healthy mix of insane riffs and softer songs such as “Tombeau” and “Emphysema”. Their heavier riffs have a very strong The Dillinger Escape Plan influence.

5 / Terra Alive – The Road To West Egg
This band and EP are insane. They’re a cool mix of Math Rock with a bit of Rap thrown in. They are from Bakersfield, California. The Road To West Egg is their most recent EP, and in my opinion their best. They have a lot of releases up on bandcamp though, so if you like what you hear check them all out. They just recently put out a new song called “Puzzles” too (also perfect).
