On October 18, 1985 Nintendo of America released a brand new gaming console to the U.S.
This was following the successful release of the Nintendo Family Computer (Famicom) in Japan just two years prior.
Perhaps it was the companies idea to rebrand the Super Mario Bros. that led Nintendo to become the center of pop culture in the West.
The company quickly followed with new versions of arcade games like Donkey Kong and Metroid as well as completely new ideas like The Legend of Zelda.
The 8-bit NES system became quickly known simply as “The Nintendo” and started to set trends for at home game consoles.
I know we all remember playing Duck Hunt. I know we also remember blowing on our games until they would work. Those were the good old days….
