THREADS Thursday # 17 – Christian Audigier – May 21, 1958 - Jul 09, 2015

Christian Audigier,  known as the fashion designer behind the successful clothing lines Ed Hardy and Von Dutch, has just died at age 57 from a battle with cancer.

The Ed Hardy label and its signature line of t-shirts became wildly popular in the late 2000’s and early ’10s.

So much so that in 2011, Audigier was able to sell the brand for $62 million and stay on as its chief designer.

Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, Audigier began to show signs of illness. In 2012, he revealed that he was suffering from MDS (Myelodysplastic syndrome)

Audigier has a net worth of nearly $250 million and has worked with Guess, Levi’s, Diesel, American Outfitters, Bisou Bisou, and XOXO. His own brands are currently available in over 40 countries.

Audigier is survived by three children, a daughter and two sons.
