Two of Lee County’s most talented rappers released an EP the other night. One that shouldn’t go unnoticed, to say the least.
A majority of the EP was produced by Brooklyn’s JustMelv (although we do see a producing credit to Lee County’s own Andre DeSaint, as well.)
The first, (and title) track takes off with a beat filled with horns that could just as easily fit in a NYC crime movie. Definitely setting the tone that this is NOT the radio-friendly, saturated hip hop we’re used to.
Among the relentless production value and lyrical precision, we find everything from spoken word, relationship evaluations, brutal honesty, and a Barenaked Ladies lyric reference (yes, because who else would do it?)
I could go on and on about this EP because it is really the first great music release of 2015. My words can’t possibly explain the talent. You’ve got to hear it for yourself.
