Director Richard Linklater, who is well known in the independent film community for movies such as A Scanner Darkly, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight, also has a spectacular film titled Waking Life. The film has been out since 2001, however it is now #STREAMING on #NETLFIX

Waking Life is an animation drama that explores the limits of our human waking life and the juxtaposition with the dreamworld in a intriguing form of delivery called rotoscoping. This form of delivery creatively brings the film to life with an artistic touch of variety that spices up the characters on screen and their environment.
Through the meetings of countless informative scholars, scientist, and experts, a young man shuffles through his dreamworld to meet and discuss the abstract and infinite possibilities for the whole world. The film over its course of 99 minutes explores a wide range of philosophical issues including the nature of reality, dreams, consciousness and the meaning of life, and free will (existentialism).
Starring Ethan Hawke, Trevor Jack Brooks and Lereli Linklater, the fun and intellectual cast brings forth much of the human imagination.
Here are some screen shots from the film.
WAKING LIFE is a film for the thinkers! If you haven’t seen it…what are you waiting for? If you have seen it, there’s a ton more to learn with each revisit!
