I live in a fairly small town in SouthWest Florida called Fort Myers. For such a small place there has been an enormous amount of talent emerging, especially over the last few years. One of the newer and more interesting artists is known only as Hottub Johny.
I saw his name and album artwork flying around Twitter and I was immediately intrigued. Upon first listen I realized this was not a “soundcloud rapper” or even a rapper at all necessarily. This is an artist who influenced by multiple kinds of music and isn’t afraid to make something reflective of that.
Mixing auto tune R&B type melodies with full on emo/post hardcore vocals and making a cohesive piece of art is a tall order. Johny filled that order and gave us even more.
The title track “Schnauzer” opens incredibly strong and is a pretty good indicator of what the listener can expect from this 7 track project. As if this record wasn’t solid enough, we’re given surprises like Johny’s take on the classic “On Top of Spaghetti”. Laugh now, be impressed later.
Big props to producer Rangerlacave for bringing some truly new, heavy, dirty, beautiful beats to the table on this project.
As a whole, this album is an insanely creative and heartfelt piece of art. All the songs are cohesive and at times seem to transition into each other.

I would say it all happened for a reason just like everything else in life. I knew I had something special for a few months but once I got the name and artwork it all came together perfectly.
