The first single off his sophomore EP Live Alive out this year, “Rescue Me” is reminiscent of Hozier and Foy Vance bridging ‘soul-pop-funk’ and ‘indie-rock’. Recorded in Byron Bay Australia with Garrett Kato, the music video is being filmed across West Palm (including last nights show) as we speak.
The music videos will combine into one story to bring listeners and viewers on a journey from depression to empowerment. Part 1, “Rescue Me” is the dark and brooding Ying of despair many of us know well to set the stage for part 2, his next single “Alive” that brings the empowering and uplifting Yang of hope his music has become known for.
Already accomplishing big feats for a self-managed independent musician over the past 3 years, Johan Danno shows no signs of slowing down. After performing in Australia, Nashville, Austin, NYC, and Miami, his music has been featured on blogs and playlists around the world, even diving into the electronic realm. But his success sends an inspiring message to anyone suffering from depression, anxiety, or heartbreak that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Opening up on social media about his long battle with mental health in 2017, Johan Danno tells Teal Cheese “music and meditation is the medication that has saved my life.” Few would be aware of his history with depression given his positive nature, but Johan Danno hopes to break the stigma around mental health. Sharing his story online and while performing across South Florida with his new band, his fanbase is growing while inspiring hope in others that tomorrow is a new day.
The single release party was held last night at Voltaire in West Palm Beach sponsored by Purehoney Magazine and featured 9 South Florida artists as part of their monthly songwriter showcase. Johan Danno has more shows coming up with national and international shows in the works.
