The Dear Hunter Act V and “The Final Act Tour”

Today (6/22/16) The Dear Hunter announced “The Final Act Tour” (Dates below), the release date for “Act V: Hymns With the Devil in Confessional” (Pre Order links below), and also released the first single off of Act V, “Gloria” (stream it on Equal Vision Records‘ Soundcloud below).

In addition to these releases and announcements, Casey released a statement to the fans of The Dear Hunter about the new album, the tour, and the future of the band itself:

Act V, however, will be the final ‘rock’ record in the Act series. This may read as though I am abandoning the project, one record early – but the truth is simply that in knowing what Act VI means to the series, and what its story has to say – presenting it in the same form as Acts I-V would be short selling the creative opportunity it presents…

…In the foreseeable future, this means to recognize the box that The Dear Hunter has lived in, and blow the box up. This doesn’t mean more than it says. This band is not ending… I am not quitting… This is nothing more than vocalizing the desire for fresh air after what I believe has been the busiest, and most obsessive, two years of my life.

So Act V will be the last ‘rock’ album in the Act series and Act VI will still happen, just in a different form. Outside of that what form Act VI will be in is a complete mystery, but we know that it’s happening. And like everything else in the Act series (and really everything Casey has been involved with) will likely surpass fan’s expectations.
