The wait is finally over. Top Dawg Entertainment artist Schoolboy Q is slated to release a new project this spring. The news comes from TDE label head Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, who took to Twitter to answer some fan questions. When asked whether we’d be getting an album from Schoolboy before or after summer, Tiffith replied “B4” confirming that we’d be getting new music from Schoolboy relatively soon. He also took time to address when we’d get projects from TDE artists Isaiah Rashad and SZA. Born and raised in South Central LA, Schoolboy Q is known for bringing a unique, groovy perspective to west coast gangsta rap, in many ways adapting to appeal to a new generation. Releasing his Grammy nominated album Oxymoron in the spring of 2014, Q stayed pretty quiet save from a few features, including the Black Hippy banger “Vice City” off of TDE artist Jay Rock‘s lastest album, 90059. It’s been all but confirmed that we’d see new music from Schoolboy this year. Late last month we got a snippet of a new track, “Groovy Tony“, via Q’s instagram, which you can check out, along with Top Dawg’s tweets, below.
