I have been listening to and mixing lots of Maceo Plex. Conjure Sex was a big hit for both myself and the places I have djed over the last few months. Conjure Sex has tons of airplane sounds and I tried to create a similar vibe with ambient sounds and hard square bass swells. Playing off Maceo Plex’s airplane sounds, I desired a train as my influence and modeled synths to sound like the chugging of a steam engine and the roar of the conductor’s horn screaming through tunnels. The VIP edit plays more into a BIGROOM setting where the crowd craves more basslines (like Tchami) and vocal sample chops (like Skrillex). All our artists have been super busy as we have lots more music planned for this year.
